Britebin runs after municipal trash and recycling pickup, not instead of it. Your hauler empties the cart first; our crew cleans the empty container at the curb, alley spot, or other location we confirmed when you booked. If the bin is still full or back inside a garage when we arrive, we cannot service it properly. This checklist covers what we need on cleaning day across the Denver metro.
Start with an empty bin. Bin cleaning is not trash removal. Bags, loose food waste, yard debris, and items the collection truck missed must be out before we can sanitize the interior. You do not need to pre-wash the cart — it needs to be empty enough for equipment to reach the walls, floor, and lid underside. Check each container after your hauler runs and before you roll it back toward the house.
Leave carts where we expect them. Many homeowners pull bins to the garage right after collection. Our route usually follows later the same day — often between 12 PM and 8 PM — so carts should stay in the agreed service spot until we pass. That may be the curb, an alley collection point, a driveway edge, or an HOA-approved pad. Unless we told you otherwise, do not assume we will enter a fenced yard or open a locked gate.
Give the crew working room. Leave space to approach and move around the cart. A car parked against the bin blocks service even when the container is visible. This comes up often on narrow alleys, shared townhome pads, and driveways where bins sit between vehicles. You do not need to clear the whole street — a few feet on each side is enough.
Tell us how your block collects trash. Denver-metro neighborhoods use curb, alley, or shared-pad pickup — sometimes different streams on different days. When you sign up, note street vs. alley service, gate codes, steep driveways, parking limits, HOA rules, and how many bins you have. Trash and recycling days may not match. A note at booking beats a missed stop because a gate was locked. Confirm coverage for your address on our service area pages — Denver, Golden, Lakewood, and Arvada are common route anchors.
Enroll every bin on the account. Residential plans on pricing include up to two bins per visit, with a per-bin add-on after that. Tell us about extra trash carts, multiple recycling containers, compost bins, seasonal yard-waste carts, or HOA-owned containers. Unlisted bins change route time and price; listing them upfront keeps billing and service aligned.
When collection runs late. Holidays, weather, and hauler delays shift pickup — and our route shifts with it. If bins are still full when we first arrive, we continue the route and circle back after collection when same-day scheduling allows. See how same-day bin cleaning works and our holiday pickup reference when your week is not normal. Tell us if only one bin was emptied, the street is blocked, or you will be away.
After we clean. Let the cart drain and dry briefly before loading new trash. Between visits, bag waste securely, rinse recyclables when your program allows, and keep lids closed. Professional cleaning removes existing grime and odor; daily habits control how fast it builds back. For why smell returns in heat, read why bin smell comes back in summer.
